How to Install a Sliding Door Handle

Many homes have sliding doors, and most of those doors need handles in order to be opened and closed. Sliding door handles come in many different styles, and the installation process can vary depending on the type of handle that you have. There are two main types of sliding door handles: those that need to be installed with screws or 3M glue, and those that are self-adhesive. Let’s go over each type in more detail.

Installation with Screws or 3M Glue

Some sliding door handles need to have a slot cut into the wooden board in order for them to be installed properly. This type of installation generally requires screws or 3M glue in order to secure the handle in place. If you’re not comfortable making a hole in your door, or if you don’t have the proper tools, it’s best to leave this type of installation to a professional.

Self-Adhesive Installation

Many sliding door handles are self-adhesive, which means that they can simply be stuck onto the door surface. This is a much easier installation process, and it can be done by anyone. Simply clean the area where you’ll be sticking the handle, remove the adhesive backing, and press the handle into place. Hold it there for a few seconds to make sure that it’s securely attached, and then you’re all done!
